Situated just off the coast of Old Sagay, Carbin Reef is part of a larger marine sanctuary, Sagay Marine Reserve. Located within the Visayan Sea, the Marine Reserve is proclaimed by President Fidel V. Ramos (Proclamation No. 592) as a protected area (marine reserve) on June 1, 1995.

Carbin ReefThis powdery cream sandbar resembles a human tongue. Because it has been declared as a marine sanctuary, it became an excellent snorkeling ground.

Carbin ReefHow To Get There:

  • From Manila: take any Bacolod-bound flight of PAL, Cebu Pacific, and Air Asia.
  • From Bacolod/Silay: take an Escalante City-bound Ceres Bus; drop off in Sagay City. Distance from Bacolod is 89 kilometers.
  • From Sagay City: take a tricycle going to Old Sagay. Distance is about 7 kilometers.
  • From Old Sagay: take a motorized banca going to Carbin Reef. Travel time is 30 minutes.
