Chasing Waterfalls: Maria Cristina Falls
Location: Maria Cristina, Iligan City
Types: Slide horsetail, Segmented
Public elementary school’s old text books in Social Studies had immortalized the majestic Maria Cristina Falls.
Those Marcos-era books created mystique and aura that never occurred to me I would experience it personally.
Standing at 98 meters, Maria Cristina Falls still holds the legendary beauty as I have originally known.
With the electric power harnessed at Maria Cristina Falls, it helped Iligan City in attaining its status as a highly urbanized industrial city. It supplies approximately 200 MW of electricity.
How To Get There:
- From Manila: take any Cagayan de Oro-bound flight of PAL, Cebu Pacific, and Zest Air.
- From Cagayan de Oro City: take an Ozamiz-bound Rural Bus at the West Terminal in Bulua. Drop off in Iligan City.
- From Iligan City: from the highway take a leisure walk going to NPC Nature’s Park.
Note: This is part of LegendHarry‘s ambitious travel project: Chasing Philippine Waterfalls.
