Chasing Waterfalls: Casaroro Falls
Location: Valencia, Negros Oriental
The City of Gentle People is an excellent gateway to adventures and sightseeing trips. As Dumaguete City is situated in the southeastern side of Negros, it is very close to the marine sanctuaries of Apo Island, the pristine beaches of Siquijor, and the cetaceans in Tañon Strait.
Eleven kilometers away from Dumaguete City, there stands a proud and mighty waterfall. At the foot of Mount Talinis in Valencia, Casaroro Falls plunges magnificently into a 100-foot ravine. The rocks and boulders bear the brunt of the roaring waterfalls. The basin that it creates offers a pool for a cold, rejuvenating dip.
To reach the falls, one has to navigate 350 concrete steps down to the gorge, reminiscent of the path to Tinago Falls. Along side the path, lush vegetation, and at times, bird species, can be sighted.
How To Get There:
- From Manila: take any Dumaguete-bound flight of PAL, and Cebu Pacific.
- From Dumaguete: take a Valencia-bound jeep or multicab in the public market.
- From Valencia: hire a habal habal going to Casaroro. Expect a rough and tumble ride.
