Near the tail-end of my 14-day Norther Mindanao-Zamboanga Peninsula-Central Visayas-Western Visayas Trip was a brief stop in Bago City.

The city of Baguio produced a string of prominent national leaders and sports heroes such as General Juan Araneta, Speaker Jose Yulo, Rafael Salas, Jorge B. Vargas, Atlanta Olympics silver medalist Onyok Velasco and Barcelona Olympics bronze medalist Roel Velasco.

Kipot FallsBut other than these prominent figures and as always what intrigued me was the prospect of seeing the city’s Kipot Twin Falls. Very early in the morning, I boarded a bus going to Ma-ao and from there a tricycle ride to Kipot Twin Falls. The trip was relaxing as sugarcane plantation and mini rice terraces adorned the scenic road.

I was a little disappointed when I learned that the waterfalls was closed. The stairway was destroyed and it had not been repaired. Still I had a great vantage view of the twin falls and that made all the difference. Leaving the place I felt somehow satisfied.

How To Get There:

  • From Manila (air): take any Bacolod (Silay)-bound flight of PAL, Cebu Pacific, and Air Asia.
  • From Bacolod: take a minibus going to Ma-ao. Travel time is up to an hour.
  • From Ma-ao: take a tricycle going to Kipot Falls. Travel time is 15 minutes.

Note: This is part of LegendHarry‘s ambitious travel project: Chasing Philippine Waterfalls.
