The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach – waiting for a gift from the sea. – Anne Morrow Lindbergh (1906-2001)
In the vastness of the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Lianga Bay in Surigao del Sur is an island incomparable to its neighbors in Britania Group of Islands.
As its names suggests, Naked Island is made up of a long white sand bar that completely gets lost in the horizon during neap high tide.
On a bright day, Naked Island is a beautiful white streak amidst the wide expanse of Lianga Bay and the blue sky that hovers it.
On a rough day, however, it is quite impossible to dock in Naked Island as raging waves clash on all sides.
According to the locals, Naked Island although bereft of vegetation is an important stopover for migratory birds.
The white sand bar is also a must-visit destination in Surigao del Sur.
