Facing the vast Pacific Ocean, Maconacon is one of the four coastal municipalities of the Province of Isabela. Its municipal waters are teeming with marine life with lobsters, or locally called as binaging, as one of the most commonly harvested. That’s why every May, Maconacon celebrates the Binaging Festival. And of course, we experienced its bounty.
A generous lobster dealer gave us lobsters for free and the treasurer of Barangay Fely graciously offered to cook it for us while another woman served us a sunny side up and steamed rice. In all, we only paid P20 for each lobsilog or lobster, sinaing, itlog. What a birthday treat for me!
