The past four days had been unbelievably awesome. I realized my dream of going to Limunsudan Falls, added two more (Dodiongan Falls and Canapulan Falls) in my Chasing Philippine Waterfalls Project. Then I immensely enjoyed the company of my new friends who share the same passion. And of course, the hospitality that the Iliganons showed was superb. Coming from a soul-fulfilling visit to Canapulan Falls, we stopped by at the Centennial Park in Brgy. Dalipuga. It was a time to pause to catch the second wind, chill out with a bunch of wonderful people and reflect of what had transpired. Of course, while being enthralledRead More →

Location: Brgy. Buru-un, Iligan City Type: Fan horsetail It has been more than four years since the first time that I visited Mimbalot Falls. After the medical-dental mission that I joined in March 2010 was finished, a few of us did a quick side trip to Camiguin Province and I extended my stay to visit Iligan City. And in this trip I saw Mimbalot. Four years later, nothing much has changed on the natural beauty and majesty of Mimbalot other than the structures built by the local community at the foot of the falls. For the record, I do not begrudge them for building. ThisRead More →

Location: Sitio Limunsudan, Iligan City Types: Plunge, Segmented, Tiered In all the years since I started traveling, there are several destinations, things, and events that proved to be rather elusive. And for the times that I never had the chance, I persisted in yearning and in dreaming. An excellent opportunity would open itself when it is least expected, I hoped. Touted to be the country’s second highest waterfall at 872 feet next to Aliwagwag Falls in Cateel, Davao Oriental, Limunsudan Falls had been in my bucket list for a very long time. Although I have been regularly visiting Iligan City since 2010, Limunsudan was alwaysRead More →

Location: Brgy. Bonbonon, Iligan City Types: Fan horsetail, Segmented When nature decides to flex its brute strength and raw power, man is reduced to puny and vulnerable state. Imagine then when the waters roar as you begin to come closer and meet it face to face, you can feel heightened anticipation and unbridled joy yet mixed with anxieties and fears. As we embarked to the first destination of the Waterfalling Adventure Tour 3.0 organized by the Iligan Bloggers Society, the rains already started to drop in the hinterlands of Iligan City and Lanao del Norte. The river was rising as the rainwaters forcefully flowed toRead More →

During my first visit to the City of Majestic Falls, my good friends Joselito and Gline Mirasol brought me to an ancestral house.Although it was not part of my itinerary, it was a pleasant surprise to pay the Macapagal-Macaraeg Ancestral Housea visit. It was well worth it. When she was a child, former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo used to stay here. It contains several artifacts and memorabilia of the Macapagal and Arroyo families. The ancestral house has been declared as a National Heritage House by the National Historical Institute on August 14, 2002. How To Get There: From Manila: take any Cagayan de Oro-bound flight ofRead More →
